Studio Etiquette

Some simple studio rules that will help ensure your and everyone else’s yoga experience will be beneficial and stress-free.

1. Remove Your Shoes
Please remove your shoes before entering the yoga studio. Yoga is practiced in bare feet, so its best to take off your socks, too.

2. No Phones

Simply don’t bring it into the room! Of course, if you’re in a setting with lots of foot traffic or if theft is an issue, you may carry it (along with your wallet and other valuables) into the studio. But turn it off. Not to vibrate… off!

3. Arrive 5 Minutes Early

This allows time to settle in, get centred, and prepare for practice. We aim to start all classes on time and as we often run back to back classes we cant run over on time. If you arrive after the class is due to start we can not stop the class to open the door or allow you to join us unfortunately.

4. Don’t Try to Impress Anyone

Yoga is not a competition. There aren’t any prizes for poses. Your practice will be different every single day. If you reach the full expression of a pose, acknowledge it to yourself, but do not seek rewards for your effort. Attain what you can during your practice, then let it go.

5. Put Your Props Away After Class

If you’ve used blocks or straps, place them back the way you found them. If you used a mat from the studio, wipe it down before replacing it. Wipes are provided!

6. Respect the Space

Practicing yoga in a group setting creates a safe zone. Observe silence before, during, and after practice. Allow room for other students to come in. Refrain from unnecessary talking, grunts, and moans. Do not chew gum — it’s distracting and unsafe. Never adjust the lights, fans, windows, or thermostat without permission.

7. Cancellations

Please give us 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or ammend a class you cant make. Unfortunately we cant move or refund classes for anyone who doesnt give us this 24 hours notice prior to the class starting. We run 2 small intimate studios and some of our busier classes fill up. People end up missing out and we do as a small business so please respect this. With courses we ask for 5 days notice prior to start date as these sell out. With courses these are non refundable and if you miss a date we cant move or reduce the cost as again we sell out on our courses.
